Abyssal Depths is a biome within the Azurite Mine. As the name suggests, the area uses Abyss theme and contains Abyss monsters. The biome, however, different from Abyssal City. Abyssal City is the biome to spawn The Lich's Tomb, the node of the Delve boss Kurgal, the Blackblooded, or the Abyssal Chamber node, which contain crafting recipe and other loots.
Both Abyssal Depths and Abyssal City use a green tile in the Subterranean Chart. The Abyssal City has additional golden color boundaries, but Abyssal Depths does not have such boundaries in the chart.

Abyssal Depths can spawn Unspeakable Shrine, which contains a slightly different Abyss encounter, or other Delve node with generic rewards.
Other nodes such as Pulsating Grotto (Beyond), Runed Cavern (Harbinger), Whispering Gallery (Breach), seem not tied to any biome and can also be spawned in Abyssal Depths.

Abyssal Depths of the Azurite Mine, has the same name with the area that only accessible from completing an Abyss encounter in map.
However, there is no in-game lore to explain why the mystery Abyss in map can spawn a portal / tunnel to travel to Abyssal Depths, and at the same time player character can delve to an area that has the same name with map version.
