Ambush is about risk and reward. Various new types of chests called Strongboxes can be found throughout Wraeclast. These chests are guarded by monsters that ambush the player when they are opened. The ambushing monsters must be slain before the contents of the Strongbox can be claimed.

The Ambush league was a four month softcore league. This league introduced Strongboxes.

It started along with the Invasion league on March 5, 2014 and lasted until July 5, 2014. At the end of the league all characters and stashes were moved to Standard league. Characters that died during the four months respawned in Ambush.
