The mods involving killing poisoned enemies synergise well with the notable passive, Adder's Touch. Both the poison and regeneration effects on killing a poisoned enemy are spread in a medium-sized area, last 2 seconds. Poison effect spreads the largest Poison stack on an enemy to enemies around it and is stackable. This means that if you have three poisoned enemies each with two stacks all standing close together and you kill two, their largest poison stack on each slain enemy will spread to the third enemy, so the enemy will now have four poison stacks. While using Poison on Traps, Totems or Minions the "On Killing a Poisoned enemy" effect only works if the Poison kill the enemy.[1]

The spreading poison and regeneration are both based on the default Poison duration, not the skill's poison duration, so it'll be a base of two seconds regardless of the skill used.[1]

The spreading poison is not a true proliferation, and is thus not scaled by increases or reductions to area of effect.[2][3]

The life regeneration granted by killing a poisoned enemy is a flat 200 life per second.[a]

Version history

Version Changes
  • Several Daggers are now classified as Rune Daggers. Daggers can no longer roll caster-related modifiers, while Rune Daggers retain their old mod generation behaviour.
  • Base type implicit mod reduced to 30% increased Global Critical Strike Chance (down from 40). This change affected all existing versions.
  • Base type critical strike chance reduced to 6.3% (down from 6.6%).
  • Base type damage increased to 10-86 (up from 9-78).
  • The life regeneration stat on Bino's Kitchen Knife has been changed to a flat value of 200 life regenerated per second.[a]
  • All sources of increased Critical Strike Multiplier have been changed to additional Critical Strike Multiplier. This change brings the functionality in line with how most players think it works.
  • Because of this, all items, passives and some skills/support gems that used to have increased Critical Strike Multiplier are now 33% less effective on players, despite having the same value. A number of these have been adjusted in value to maintain similar effectiveness.
  • Divine Orbs are required to update the following to their new values: All craftable Jewel mods which grant Critical Strike Multiplier, Facebreaker, Marylene's Fallacy, Fragment of Eternity (the Descent: Champions Unique), Bino's Kitchen Knife, Romira's Banquet, Shadows and Dust, Ungil's Harmony, Eclipse Solaris, Death's Harp, Mortem Morsu, The Goddess Scorned and Abyssus.
  • New 3D art has been added to Bino's Kitchen Knife and Alternate Art Bino's Kitchen Knife.
  • Introduced to the game.

  1. 1.0 1.1 Prior to this change in version 2.2.0, the life regenerated per second was equal to the damage over time of the strongest poison debuff that was in effect on the killed enemy. The poison overhaul in version 2.1.0 allowed poison to stack multiple times on a single enemy, which made it possible for ludicrous regeneration values to be achieved.[4][5]
