Decay Support is a support gem that grants a chaos damage over time to the supported skill.

Skill functions and interactions

Being a chaos damage over time gem, Decay's damage is affected by any passives or items that increase Chaos damage or increase Damage Over Time. Skill Effect Duration will not affect the duration of Decay unless it is linked to a skill with the duration tag.

Because Decay deals damage, it can benefit from other support gems it is linked with. Decay is not strictly a skill, but can inherit some skill gem tags of the supported skill, namely those that change the source of damage to something other than the player (such as totems and minions). Support gems that have the wording supported skills deal x% more/less/increased/decreased damage will affect Decay's damage, provided the skill gem is eligible to be supported. Certain damage modifiers from Skills will influence Decay's damage. Damage effectiveness does not apply, but "% more damage" or "% of damage per stage" modifiers do, such as Charged Dash, Storm Burst, and Arc allow Decay to deal increased damage. Similar modifiers that are restricted to "Spell Damage" or "Hits and Ailments" do not apply, however.
