Exposure is a debuff that lowers a particular elemental resistance.

Mechanics

Multiple Exposures of the same element do not stack; only the highest Exposure of the element applies. Exposures of different elements can apply to the same target.

Exposure with an unspecified value defaults to -10% to the affected resistance. Exposures with different values are:

  • Scorching RayScorching RaySpell, Fire, Duration, Channelling

    Cast Time: 0.25 sec
    Requires Level 12Unleash a beam of fire that burns enemies it touches. Remaining in the beam intensifies the burning, adding a portion of the beam's damage in stages. Inflicts Fire Exposure at maximum stages. Enemies who leave the beam continue to burn for a duration. The Elementalist's Mastermind of Discord applies an additional -25% to Exposure, and the Ascendant's Elementalist applies an additional -20%.

If Exposure has a duration (e.g. it doesn't apply to nearby enemies), it defaults to 4 seconds. If a skill sets the Exposure's duration, modifiers to skill effect duration will apply to the Exposure.
