Hillock, the Blacksmith is one of the 18 Immortal Syndicate members.

Lore[]

Hillock is the name of the first boss of the entire game, located in The Twilight Strand (Act 1). It is suggested by the in-game dialogues that the Mastermind resurrected the corpse.

Before Hillock was killed by the player character in Act 1, he was a "mindless" zombie already, so apparently after the Mastermind resurrected Hillock, still affects his ability to think.

Before the open beta, the game developer released a lore in their website regarding Hillock, which mentioned he was a blacksmith.[1] Despite the lore is not certain to be still canon and the webpage is not accessible anymore, a map boss that is based on Hillock, The Blacksmith, is named after the occupation. Not all the names of the map boss have a logical explanation.

This resurrected boss, now known as "Hillock, the Blacksmith", now has safehouse rewards that matching the nickname. As a member of Immortal Syndicate, he rewards the player in the Syndicate Safehouse by adding quality to items (weapon, body armour and flask; map until 3.14). Note that Abyss Scarab is added in version 3.14.0 and apparently arbitrarily linked to Hillock.

Dialogues[]

"

Want a friend, I do. Sit in my room, bashing my hammer, talking to myself... gettin' ANGRY... with a friend maybe I wouldn't hurt people no more. Will you help me find a friend?

"

- Hillock

"

My head still hurts!

"

- Hillock

"

Maybe this will make the bad thoughts go...

"

- Hillock (after the player let Hillock escape)

Version history[]

Version Changes
3.14.0
  • Modifiers that are unveiled through Jun are now more powerful than before. Previously, when an item was unveiled, the veiled modifier added to the item would be equal to the highest tier modifier available on the Crafting Bench. Now, the modifier being unveiled no longer counts as a crafted modifier and will be stronger than any craftable veiled modifier.
3.9.0
  • Monster resistances throughout the game have been reviewed and made more consistent. In many cases this has resulted in more resistances on monsters.
3.6.0
  • Bosses which previously had 60% or 80% less effect of curses on them now have 33% or 66% less effect of curses on them respectively. This includes map bosses, Incursion architects, Betrayal targets, Breachlords, Shaper, Elder and others.
  • In 3.6.0, Jun is introduced in Highgate in Act 9.[2] Thus, Tora now can be encountered from Act 9 onwards only.
  • Several veiled modifiers now have fewer tiers. Low tiers contribute more towards unlocking higher tiers, however it will, on average, take more unveils to unlock the highest tier.
3.5.0
  • Introduced to the game.
