An Ignited Stygian Ape

Ignite is an elemental ailment associated with fire that causes the affected target to take burning damage (fire damage over time).

Mechanics

A hit of damage that has a chance to ignite is capable of inflicting ignite. Critical strikes inherently have a 100% chance to ignite. By default, only fire damage is able to inflict ignite, but certain equipment such as The Three Dragons inventory iconThe Three DragonsThe Three Dragons

Resistance modifiers like penetration does not affect the chance to ignite.

The base duration of ignite is 4 seconds. The burning damage over time is 40% of the base damage of the hit of fire damage, per second[1]. Therefore, over the base duration the target will take 160% of the base damage dealt[1]. Increasing the duration of the Ignite, either via Temporal Chains skill iconTemporal Chains or the % increased Ignite duration modifier, causes the ignite to deal the same damage per second for a greater period of time. Linking a skill that applies an ignite with Module Error: No skills found with q_where = skill.active_skill_name="Increased Duration Support" will not increase the duration of the ignite[2].

  • Skills calculate their Ignite, Poison or Bleed values as a separate damage value, taken straight from the base and added damage of the skill. This gives skills that deal fire damage a minimum and maximum Ignite Damage per Second value that is rolled on Ignites that the skill causes. Poison, Bleed and Ignite damage values are based on the base damage of the skill, and then affected by appropriate damage modifiers. Some damage modifiers affect both the hit and the Ignite, Poison or Bleed, while some only affect one.
