It's not adding another modifier each stage, it's changing the value of the one modifier the skill has."<ref>[http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/233640/page/44#p2483028 Path of Exile Forum: Incinerate skill feedback - Post by Mark_GGG]</ref></div></blockquote>

Template:Gem Infobox Launches a torrent of fire from your hand. The longer you repeatedly cast the spell from the same location, the larger and more damaging the flames become.

This gem is available to caster classes as a reward for The Caged Brute quest in act 1.

Skill Functions and Interactions

Incinerate automatically pierces foes.

Incinerate becomes more powerful if cast continuously from one spot. The increase in damage can happen up to 3 times. At each stage, the flames become visibly larger and will be slightly less accurate, spreading out in a small cone instead of always going in a straight line. The accuracy shift is largely negligible due to the increasing flame width compensating for this. The spell will revert to its first stage if the player stops casting for more than a fraction of a second, even if they do not move from the spot they are standing on.

Each new tier of damage multiplication arrives after the sixth projectile from the previous tier has been shot. As such, simply multiplying the cast speed by 18 (6 shots * 3 repetitions) and dividing by 10 gives the approximate amount of time in seconds, barring any stuns or freezes, that it will take the spell to reach maximum damage output.

Low Damage Effectiveness: This stat causes added damage from supports such as Added Lightning/Cold/Chaos Damage, to provide only 20% of their listed effectiveness. This limits the effectiveness of adding base damage to spells that create many small hits instead of one large effect.
