Overgrown Shrine Map (War for the Atlas) is a map area.

Layout[]

The first half of the map is based on The Chamber of Sins from both Acts 2 and 7. Halfway through the map, there is a portal down a flight of stairs that teleports the player to a linear layout similar to Maligaro's Misery in The Rotting Core in Act 9. The boss arena is at the end of this layout.

Encounters[]

Boss[]

Maligaro, The Mutilator, based on Maligaro, The Broken in The Rotting Core in Act 9. He has a various assortment of attacks:

  • casts a large purple shuriken that deals chaos damage
  • Teleports behind you and performs a slash attack
  • Executes a 3-step combo attack: Slash, kick, dash
  • Summons knives in the ground in a large Area of Effect, dealing damage as they shoot upwards

At low life, Maligaro will disappear into the ground, and 6 more Maligaro's will spawn at low life, performing the same attacks. After the 6th Maligaro has spawned, the real one will re-appear and continue to fight you.

Version history[]

Version Changes
3.5.0
  • The Atlas of Worlds has been shuffled. Most maps have changed tier and location within the Atlas.
  • Many map bosses have also shifted around. Some have been retired and replaced!
3.1.0
  • The entire Atlas has been reworked. Many map names have changed, as have their balance, tier and position on the Atlas. Many maps have also had their boss fights swapped or completely reworked.
  • The rules used to generate monsters in endgame maps have been significantly reworked and rebalanced around the rate at which we expect players to reliably clear out the map. In general, narrow, linear maps will contain fewer total monsters than maps with complex layouts. We will be closely monitoring and adjusting the balance of this change and expect to make further changes and improvements over time.
0.9.11
  • Added 45 Map areas, each with its own boss.
