Curses are large area of effect spells that cause negative effects on enemy targets. Curses have a limited duration, but can be refreshed simply by casting the spell again. This duration is extended infinitely by taking the Hex Master keystone.
By default, enemies can have one curse active at a time. While a curse is active, casting a different curse will override it. Taking the Whispers of Doom keystone allows the player to give enemies up to two different curses at once.

There are 11 curse skills usable by players:
Skill | Description |
---|---|
Warlord's Mark | Curses all targets in an area. Physical attacks on the cursed targets will leech life and mana, and killing them will result in more flask charges and a chance to gain an endurance charge. |
Punishment | Curses all targets in an area, causing them to suffer some of the physical damage they deal with their attacks. |
Projectile Weakness | Curses all targets in an area, making them easier for projectiles to pierce and easier to knock back, while reducing their evasion against projectiles. |
Temporal Chains | Curses all targets in an area, making time pass more slowly for them. They will move, attack and cast at a reduced speed, and effects on them will expire more slowly. |
Frostbite | Curses all targets in an area, making them less resistant to cold damage and giving cold damage a chance to freeze. |
Conductivity | Curses all targets in an area, making them less resistant to lightning damage and giving lightning damage a chance to shock. |
Critical Weakness | Curses all targets in an area, making them more vulnerable to critical strikes. |
Elemental Weakness | Curses all targets in an area, making them less resistant to elemental damage. |
Enfeeble | Curses all targets in an area, making their attacks less effective. |
Flammability | Curses all targets in an area, making them less resistant to fire damage and giving fire damage a chance to burn. |
Vulnerability | Curses all targets in an area, making them take increased damage from physical attacks and degeneration, and easier to stun. The target's energy shield will regenerate more slowly. |

There are 2 Unique items that increase the number of curses you can put on enemies. These are Doedre's Damning, a Unique ring that grants +1 curses, and Windscream, unique boots that grant +1 curses. With 2 rings, Windscream, and the passive point mentioned above, you can get up to a total of 5 Curses at one time.
